If applicable, please follow the issue templates to provide as much detail as
possible.

Problem:
The ADK (Agent Development Kit) fails with a MutualTLSChannelError because the google-auth library cannot find the OpenSSL module during mTLS channel configuration.

Solution:
Dependency Hardening for (pyopenssl)

Testing Plan

Tested on colab with a test-branch fix and see that the module error doesn't persist after the fix. See colab for more details

Unit Tests:

  • I have added or updated unit tests for my change.
  • [] All unit tests pass locally.

Please include a summary of passed pytest results.

Manual End-to-End (E2E) Tests:

  1. Create Custom AdkApp which overrides async_create_session to refresh credentials and call a GCS bucket-listing helper during session initialization.
  2. LlmAgent is initialized and deployed to Vertex AI as a Reasoning Engine with AGENT_IDENTITY enabled and specific
  3. Configure IAM Permissions to grant the Agent Identity mandatory IAM roles
  4. the async_create_session method is called on the remote application to verify that the agent is successfully able to use GCS.

Summary of Changes

Hello @agrawalradhika-cell, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request resolves a critical MutualTLSChannelError that occurred during mTLS channel configuration within the ADK (Agent Development Kit). The issue stemmed from a missing pyopenssl dependency, which is implicitly required by the google-auth library. By explicitly adding pyopenssl to the project's dependencies, the necessary OpenSSL module is now guaranteed to be available, preventing application failures and ensuring secure communication.

Highlights

  • Dependency Management: Added pyopenssl with version >=25.3.0 to the project dependencies in pyproject.toml. This addition is crucial for resolving MutualTLSChannelError encountered during mTLS channel configuration.

Code Review

This pull request correctly resolves a MutualTLSChannelError by adding pyopenssl as a dependency. My review includes a suggestion to add a version upper bound and a descriptive comment for this new dependency to improve maintainability and align with the existing format of other dependencies in pyproject.toml.
