The DB Operator creates databases and make them available in the cluster via Custom Resources.

It's quite a small project, and we don't have an established way to become a contributor.

If you feel like you want to support the project in a long-term, write an email to iam@allanger.xyz, and you'll be added to the Contributors team. It would let you write to the repo without forking it.
