I do not understand why cargo-deny isn't failing on master as well. There, we have 3 windows dependencies:

• windows_x86_64_msvc@0.42.2: excused by jni rule
• windows_x86_64_msvc@0.48.5: winit via x11rb and miow via compiletest_rs
• windows_x86_64_msvc@0.52.6: everything else

I'm closing this for now, the wgpu upgrade lives on in #280
