Is this a new report?

Yes

System Info

Package(s) Affected

kodi-addon-peripheral-joystick-1.7.1_2

Does a report exist for this bug with the project's home (upstream) and/or another distro?

No response

Expected behaviour

Installing both kodi and kodi-addon-peripheral-joystick should allow the Joystick add-on to be enabled in Kodi and allow gamepads to function.

Updates to Kodi often render these add-ons incompatible, so their versions must be synced in the Void repositories in order for them to continue working. The version of Kodi is quite up to date, as it's on Omega 21.2 https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/blob/master/srcpkgs/kodi/template However, the kodi-addon-peripheral-joystick package in the Void repositories has not been updated in years, and is stuck at Matrix 1.7.1 https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/blob/master/srcpkgs/kodi-addon-peripheral-joystick/template

We've had a similar issue with the kodi-addon-inputstream-adaptive package (see #53872).

Actual behaviour

After installing both of these packages, an error message appears in Kodi saying that the peripheral joystick addon has been disable because it is not compatible with this version of Kodi.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install both relevant packages: sudo xbps-install kodi kodi-addon-peripheral-joystick
  2. Launch kodi and try to enable the addon.
