Most appropriate sub-area of Processing 4?
PDE
Processing version
4.4.10, 4.5.2
Operating system
Windows
Bug description
After installation, launching the application via the desktop shortcut works as expected, and the .pde file association is successfully registered.
However, we observed an issue with subsequent launches via file association.
In Windows 11, File Explorer often overwrites registry entries intaerlactively. Once it is manually overwritten, this issue no longer surfaces.
Steps to reproduce this
- Install the application.
- Launch the application via the shortcut. (Success - .pde association is registered).
- Open a .pde file to launch via file association for the first time. (Success).
- Try to open another .pde file (or the same one again) to launch via file association a second time. (Failure).
Consequentially,
- Launching via the shortcut fixes the configuration.
- Launching via file association breaks the state, which negatively affects the next attempt to launch via file association.
