I found some similar projects that aims to bind spark geospatial package to R.

According to this paper: Spatial data management in apache spark: the GeoSpark
perspective and beyond

GeoSpark is currently state-of-the-art scala package to handle geospatial big data, and discuss for many times in Sparklyr issue list.

In that, I suggest we can focus the development force to a single project and achieve common goals.

Thanks for bringing our attention to GeoSpark. It does look like a more active project in the space. We are currently not actively developing sparkgeo, we will certainly consider contributing to your project if this changes.
