Unable to provision K8s Cluster with Ubuntu 24.04

problem

In CS 4.22.0.0. I have created custom template for CSK with OS Ubuntu 24.04, I have followed the guide to create the template, however while creating the K8s cluster it's failing with error and I unable to see the Kubernetes Cluster config, though controler vm and node vm gets provisioned but inside controler vm no k8s services are configured.

If anyone has faced this issue earlier with CS 4.22.0.0 then requesting to kind extend the help.

versions

ACS - 4.22.0.0
Hypervisor - KVM (Ubuntu 24.04)
Storage - Ceph - RBD

The steps to reproduce the bug

1. Create a Ubuntu 24.04 template from Ubuntu Cloud Image by mounting the image using guestmount command and then chroot.
2. Install the required pacakges as mentioned in the guide
3. Exit from chroot and upload the ubuntu 24.04 image into CS template option, make sure you select For CKS option while uploading.

@amitmvyas did you update the ssh keypair in the template

Once the VM is deployed, place the Management Server’s SSH Public key at the cloud user’s authorized_keys file at ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

@kiranchavala : This is already in place. The problem is when I do a virt dumxl for k8s master node I don't see CD ROM device in that. Even I tried login into master vm and try to see the logs which show that it's still trying to find the /mnt/k8sdisk mount point.

Do let me know if I have to share any other details ? will bee happy to share the same.

@amitmvyas could you please test with the default ubuntu template mentioned in the docs

1. Register the template

https://download.cloudstack.org/testing/custom_templates/ubuntu/22.04/cks-ubuntu-2204-kvm.qcow2.bz2

2. Once the vm starts , > login to the vm

cloud:cloud

3. Add the Management Server’s SSH Public key at the cloud user’s authorized_keys file at ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

4. Add the external vm to the cks cluster

5. Do not select any thing else

Hi @kiranchavala : I am able to provision the controller and worker node using this template, however my requirement is to use Ubuntu 24.04 OS instead of 22.04.

As I mentioned earlier in 24.04 I am unable to deploy successful K8s cluster which is with single controller and worker node.

Do let me know if I have to check anything else?
