[BUG] Error 400 with Kimi Coding Plan API "temperature can only be 0.6"

The error has started appearing out of the blue on the 17/04/2026 (dd.mm.yyyy) around 16:00 CET. Previously it was working perfectly fine.
Tried setting custom temperature to 0.6 or higher or lower and nothing worked.

Happens when trying to run kimi-for-coding in Roo Code, recently (was working before).

I've analyzed this issue and here's my proposed implementation plan:

Root cause: When using the OpenAI Compatible provider, Roo Code always sends a temperature parameter in API requests. If the user has not set a custom temperature, it defaults to 0 (see src/api/providers/openai.ts line 157). The Kimi API recently changed to require temperature: 0.6 for kimi-for-coding, so sending 0 causes a 400 error.

The user also reports that setting custom temperature to 0.6 does not help. This may be related to how null/undefined settings interact with the fallback logic, or the API may want the temperature omitted entirely and handled server-side.

Proposed fix:

1. Modify src/api/providers/openai.ts - When no custom temperature is set (modelTemperature is null or undefined), omit the temperature parameter from the request rather than defaulting to 0. This lets the upstream API use its own default (e.g., 0.6 for kimi-for-coding). When the user explicitly sets a temperature, that value will still be sent.
2. Apply the same change to the non-streaming path in the same file for consistency.
3. Add tests to verify the new behavior: temperature should be omitted when not explicitly configured, and included when the user sets it.

This approach is the most compatible with arbitrary OpenAI-compatible APIs that may have model-specific temperature constraints, while preserving existing behavior for users who explicitly set a temperature.

I've seen the approval and will proceed with the implementation. The plan is to omit the temperature parameter from OpenAI-compatible API requests when no custom temperature is set, instead of defaulting to 0. This lets upstream APIs like Kimi use their own model-specific defaults. I'll open a PR shortly to share progress.
