Explore the overlap in the definition of a plant/site and turbine option described in the IEA Task 37 model:

@WindyMark3 / @WindyMarkW and @SimonHH, you had both created new issues and suggested we explore overlap and align with the windIO (IEA Wind Task 37) Plant schema. I definitely agree that is a good idea. We have discussed it in the group before and it has been on my mind, but we have not explored it in any detail yet. Would one or both of you be willing and able to undertake an initial review and make recommendations for how we best approach that?

I suppose there are two aspects to this:

1. Can we align any sub-schema and/or fields (names and types) to match those in windIO?
2. Can we create a mapping from an instance of a windIO data model to an instance of the wind farm configuration part of the EYA DEF?

It seems like a good idea to do the first item to the degree practical, but there will be parts where scopes and goals are different. It is also worth noting that the EYA DEF uses the IEC 61400-16 Power Curve Schema for all turbine performance data, so some parts are outside of the scope of the EYA DEF itself.

In an ideal situation, we would have ontologies to tag the schema with. If the EYA DEF and windIO were aligned and annotated with terms from the same ontology, it should be possible to map data automatically. We are however not there yet (IEA Wind Task 43 and others are working on it!). In the absence of that, it would seem useful to me to have a mapping to extract and transform data from windIO to EYA DEF automatically.
